Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Here's a photo of me meeting the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band last week after their concert in Dawson Creek, BC. (I'm the short guy)

It was a little like being shuffled through a cattle chute, and John McEuen (the bearded man) was really quiet and sat down as soon as the picture was done. Whenever anyone said something to him he just nodded and stared. It was a little creepy.

Awesomeness.

John and Joe got their pictures taken with Penn and Teller when we were in Vegas. I should throw that picture up on my blog.

It's always a little weird meeting celebs... any celebs.

When I worked at an oldies station, I hung out backstage a bit with The Everly Brothers once... cool guys. Jerry Mathers, though, was a prick. Eddie Haskel was there too... and he was awesome.

Thankfully I also got to hang out with ones that were relevant to me when I worked at the rock station too... but those stories I should probably keep to myself! ;)

I never have gone up to celebs to ask for autographs though... that's a little too weird to think about.

The one thing I found when dealing with celebs is... sure, you gotta be a good host... but they're just people. Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

You're absolutely right Pat. They are just people, and generally want to be treated like one rather than like a celebrity.
I unfortunately was playing the role of Station Rep so I had to be all excited for everyone to make sure they were having a good time. It was like being a call-girl.
Not that I know what being a call girl is like. I swear I don't.

Oh Har-de-har guys. Good ham joke.

You know Maxwell, I think that's combination of the long hair, the relative height of everyone else, the cherubic smile, and the fact that the only shirt with the Big Country logo on it I've been given is two sizes too big. It's roughly the size of a parachute

yeah Jakers, I totally thought this was a picture that you had taken in junior high or something and you were just posting it now.
